At this point the opinion of the Black Watch trailer people seems to be swaying toward bringing the trailer on the Florida trip in July. The Boosters felt that we probably should not put any money into painting or refurbishing the trailer at this time since it seems that it will ultimately need to be replaced. The Lions and Rotary clubs will need to be informed that their grants will not be used for painting or refurbishing. Patty will follow up with Ken Wiele to let him know that the Boosters will not pay for trailer rental for the Florida trip. If rental is decided, the funds will need to come out of the Black Watch summer funds.Discussion followed regarding the grant money from the Lions and Rotary clubs. A motion was made that the 2 grants be used for the purchase of the second-hand percussion equipment for the Kenosha Beats if that is agreeable to the organizations. If the clubs would like the money to be used for a future trailer, then the funds will be set aside for detailing the new trailer.
The motion carried as written above. Patty agreed to contact the Lions and Rotary clubs.
Patty noted that Ken Wiele and Ray Larson (of the Kiwanis) have requested a Booster decision regarding the trailer by 6/28/06. Patty will follow up with them.
Ice Cream Social:
Sue Mack is working on organizing this event. The Johnson Bank tent is available. Cathy Eggert is the volunteer coordinating the raffle baskets. Letters will go home with summer band students requesting donations for basket items.
Festival of Arts and Flowers:
This event still needs a chairperson(s). There was some discussion about food. It is difficult to gauge the amount that will be sold. It was decided to scale back on the variety of foods served. Patty will check on the pizza and pretzel option. It was determined that the Boosters would like to limit the risk of losing money on food costs.
New Business:
Andrew Donaldson, a potential Eagle Scout, is planning to build uniform racks for Continental and Rambler.
Dominic James, another potential Eagle Scout, is willing to build new hat box racks for Continental and Rambler.
A Booster meeting will be held sometime in July or August to review finances and the by-laws. Patty will set this up.
Bob Cross, a low brass clinician who helped at Black Watch camp in June died shortly after camp ended. Bob lived in Illinois.
Sonya Rhutasel, whose son is in the 5th grade band, recently died. A card was sent from the Boosters.
A "Save the Music Coalition" meeting was recently held and Patty Mahoney and Janet Schoettler attended on behalf of Band Boosters. There was discussion at that meeting about the Booster organizations contributing toward the mailing to parents and also a possible Kenosha News Ad. The entire postage cost was $391.00. The printing, paper and envelope costs are unknown. Patty will ask the coalition for a proposed amount requested from the Band Boosters and bring it back to a meeting for approval.
