The Kenosha Band Boosters will again recognize staff, parents, businesses and community leaders who have contributed to the Kenosha Unified School District band program.
The nomination form and policies are below.
Nominations are due by Friday, December 5, 2008.
Please remember this is not restricted to active Band Boosters members. Recognition awards are open to any adult who has made a positive contribution to the bands.
Students are welcome to nominate a candidate.

Annual Recognition Awards
Purpose:
Each year the Kenosha Band Boosters, Inc. will present awards to recognize faculty, parents and businesses/industries that have had a positive influence on the Kenosha Unified School District's (KUSD) band program.
General Notes:
*Awards will be given to adults.
*Awards will be given in the following five categories: Active, Special, School/Private Teacher, 20-Year Service, Business/Industry.
*The awards are optional. Each category does not have to be awarded every year.
*More than one award can be presented in a category.
*The awards will be ordered and paid for by the Kenosha Band Boosters, Inc.
*The awards will be presented by the Kenosha Band Booster's President to the recipients at the KUSD Band-O -Rama.
*The Kenosha Band Boosters recognizes that there are countless people who deserve an award but the decision of the committee will be final.
The Process:
*The Kenosha Band Boosters will form a sub-committee whose purpose is to conduct the process of soliciting nominations, selecting the recipients and ordering the awards.
*The Kenosha Band Boosters will distribute nomination forms to solicit nominations. See nomination form below.
*The nominations and the selection of the recipients will be kept confidential by the sub-committee.
*After the recipients have been selected, these names will be sent to the KUSD Fine Arts secretary so that she has the information for the program.
*After the recipients have been chosen, the committee will need to order the awards/plaques. Awards will be purchased by the Kenosha Band Boosters.
*Letters will be sent to the award recipients by the Kenosha Band Boosters, Inc. and/or the KUSD Fine Arts Department.
*Recipients will be asked to be present at one or both of the Band-O-Rama performances. Recipients and their immediate families will receive complimentary tickets to Band-O-Rama and have reserved seating.
The Award Categories and Criteria:
Business/Industrial
*Any business or industry that has continuously supported the Kenosha Unified School District Band Program by providing special services, donations or financial support.
*Awarded to the business or industry but also may list a contact's name.
20 Years Of Service
*Awarded to a person who has provided 20 years of support to the Kenosha Unified School District's Band Program.
*The award recipient's spouse may also be recognized. This is often done if a director is receiving the award or a couple has worked together throughout the years.
School/Private Teacher
*Starting with the awards in 2005 this category will recognize teachers who have been at KUSD for 5 years, 10 years, 15 years, 20 years, 25 years, 30 years, 35 years, etc.
*This award may also be awarded to private teachers who have served the community and have been nominated and selected by the committee.
Awards will be given according to the years of service:
5 Glass paperweight (personalized)
10 Conductor Baton
15 Pen and Pencil Set
20 Plaque (glass)
25 Padfolio (Personalized)
30 Clock (Personalized)
35 Conductor Figurine (Personalized)
Active Award:
*A person who has continually/consistently supported the Kenosha Unified School District band program by volunteering his/her time or talent.
*The person may be nominated by anyone. The person nominating an individual should write what contributions -- time, talent or financial -- this person has contributed to the KUSD band program and why this person deserves the award.
Special:
*Awarded to a person, faculty or business that has done something that has benefited the KUSD band program or the Kenosha Band Boosters. This could have been at a specific school, a specific event, a specific task, or a specific service. It may have been done over a short period of time or over an extended period of time.
*Examples: at retirement, continued support to a band director at a specific school, continued support to a summer band, a business that gives a one-time outstanding contribution.
*The actual physical award will not be equal in size to the other physical awards. In other words, if a plaque is awarded, it will not be as large as the plaque for active.
(These guidelines were developed and approved in the fall of 2004 by a Kenosha Band Booster sub-committee to aide the organization in the award selection process.)
