Kenosha Band Boosters, Inc.
Supporting Kenosha, Wis. Unified School District music programs.

Kenosha Band Boosters, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide support for  the Kenosha Unified School District band program. We rely on volunteers to assist at many music events, including Band-O-Rama and Solo & Ensemble, to help make those activities a success.

Besides bringing volunteers' time and energy to such events, Band Boosters also supports music activities financially. Some of our contributions have included:

1. $500 in fall 2004 to each middle- and high-school band for needed equipment.
2. $200 to the Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) for its new building.
3. Money for two chairs to assist with Tremper High School's auditorium renovation.
4. Donations to each of the three summer marching bands.
5. Insurance for the summer band equipment and uniforms.
6. Maintenance and insurance for the Band of the Black Watch truck and trailer.
7. Book donations to the library and sponsorship of a concert reception.

Also, Band Boosters offers awards at Band-O-Rama.

Since becoming president of Band Boosters in October 2004, I have set goals to look at how we can better support the band program, how we can maximize our financial status and how we can increase the number of active participants.

I believe that the KUSD band program has so much to offer our children and our community. We should all take great pride in our district's program and feel fortunate to have such strong support in times when many schools are making budget cuts in the Fine Arts.

Becoming involved in Band Boosters will help you connect with other parents of band students at all ages. These parents can be of great support to you and can offer guidance from their own experiences.
Becoming an active participant of the Kenosha Band Boosters can be a rewarding experience that shows your child you want to help make a difference.
Also, if any parent would like to help with the reception following the District-wide Elementary Band Concert on May 2nd, please contact Patty Mahoney. This activity involves arranging for cookies and punch to be served following the band's performance.
We also want you to know that last year, the Kenosha Band Boosters and the public library purchased several copies of the book, "Growing Your Musician: A Practical Guide For Band & Orchestra Parents.   The book is available at the Northside, Southwest and Simmons libraries.  This book offers a lot of guidance/suggestions for the parents of new band students.

Again, welcome and enjoy KUSD's music program.
